Didn’t notice in any of the articles linked from Derek Gregory’s piece a reference to the fact that one type of military training simulation described here (on-base Mission Rehearsal Exercises utilizing artificial villages, live explosions, and simulated gunfire) receives fairly sensitive treatment from the standpoint of Iraqi-American “civilian actors” in Hari Kunzru’s 2011 novel, ‘Gods Without Men‘.
